This study aims to analyze the influence of learning interest and learning independence on students’ mathematical literacy skills. Mathematical literacy is a key 21st-century competency involving the ability to understand, use, and interpret mathematics in real-life contexts. A correlational quantitative approach was employed, involving 60 junior high school students as participants. The research instruments included learning interest and independence questionnaires, along with a mathematical literacy test designed based on the PISA framework. The results indicate that both learning interest and learning independence have a positive and significant impact on mathematical literacy, both individually and simultaneously. Students with high interest and independent learning habits tend to exhibit better conceptual understanding and contextual application of mathematics. These findings support constructivist learning theory and provide important implications for the development of mathematics learning strategies that emphasize internal learner factors.
