Eksplorasi Koneksi Matematis Pada Materi Operasi Bilangan Melalui Permainan Congklak

This study explores the use of the traditional congklak game as a learning medium to strengthen students’ mathematical connections in the topic of number operations, particularly addition, subtraction, and strategy-based distribution in integer contexts. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving sixth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while triangulation was applied to ensure data validity. The results show that congklak facilitates mathematical connections across several aspects, such as linking mathematical procedures, relating mathematical concepts to everyday life, and transitioning from concrete to symbolic representations. The activity also increased students’ engagement and positive attitudes toward mathematics learning. These findings indicate that traditional games have strong potential as contextual and culturally relevant learning tools to promote meaningful understanding of number operation concepts.
