Abstract

School culture-based character education is an important strategy for developing students who are disciplined, ethical, and possess strong integrity. However, the implementation of character education in elementary schools still faces various challenges, particularly the limited competence of teachers in systematically and sustainably integrating character values into school culture. This community service program aimed to improve teachers’ understanding and skills in designing and implementing school culture-based character education at SDN Centre Malino, Gowa Regency. The program was conducted through socialization activities, participatory training, group discussions, case studies, simulations, practical workshops on developing school culture programs, and mentoring supported by a Learning Management System using Google Classroom. The activity involved 21 participants consisting of school principals and teachers. The results showed an improvement in participants’ understanding of character education and school culture concepts, with an average mastery level of 88%. In addition, participants were able to develop contextual school culture programs suited to the needs of the school. The use of Google Classroom also enhanced material accessibility, participant interaction, and training evaluation effectiveness. This program contributed to strengthening school culture as the foundation of character education while improving the professional competence of elementary school teachers.
