DUKUNGAN INFRASTRUKTUR DALAM PENGEMBANGAN KAWASAN AGROPOLITAN BERBASIS KOMODITI KAKAO DI KABUPATEN BANTAENG

Abstract

Regional development in rural areas should be seen as an integral part of the urban area. This research aimed (1) to analyze the availability and support of the infrastructures in the cocoa commodity-based agropolitan area in Bantaeng Regency; (2) to formulate the development strategy of the infrastructures of the cocoa commodity-based agropolitan area in Bantaeng Regency. The research was conducted in Bantaeng Regency. The method used was descriptive. The data were collectd using the interviews with the competent informants, and trough the acces to the related institutions. The collected data were then processed by describing the infrastructures and analyzed using SWOT analysis. The research results revealed that the conditions of the existing infrastructures were able to support the development of the agropolitan area through the development of the prime commodity as well as the facilities and infrastructures of the farm operations. The SWOT formulated the top priority the support of the infrastructures for the development of the cocoa commodity-based agropolitan area in Bantaeng Regency, such as the utilization of the efficient technology, the establishment of the cocoa production industry, pushing the invesment of the investors in the fields of both agribusiness and agro-industry, the government solution in providing the infrastructures in order to enter into the market and industry, optimization of the functions of the economic institutions, and the improvement of the supporting infrastructures, for example, the establishment of the agribusiness terminals and the improvement of the implementation of the agribusiness terminals and the improvement of the implementation of the plantation yields to increase of the export capacity. Results of the analysis of these strategies shows that the availability of infrastructure has supported the development of cocoa-based agropolitan in Bantaeng.
