This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to provide economic education to enhance students’ readiness in facing the world of work and entrepreneurship. Economics learning plays a strategic role in equipping students with knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to make rational economic decisions, manage personal finances, and develop entrepreneurial mindsets. The program was implemented through educational seminars, interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation through quizzes involving students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Tangerang.
The materials focused on economic literacy, financial literacy, career planning, and basic entrepreneurship using an applicative and contextual approach. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of basic economic concepts, critical thinking skills, and personal financial management. Based on the evaluation results, the average level of students’ understanding increased from 68% before the activity to 86% after the activity, indicating an 18% improvement. In addition, approximately 82% of students demonstrated active participation in discussions and were able to answer questions correctly.
Therefore, economics learning can serve as an effective means to enhance students’ work readiness and self-reliance. This community service program is expected to become a contextual learning model relevant to the needs of the labor market and entrepreneurship.
